Sharon Adams Sharon, the driving force behind Devonport Driving School, has over 30 years driving experience with over 10 years as a New Zealand Transport Agency qualified driving instructor.

Devonport Driving School provides quality driving instruction focusing on the requirements for students to reach driving competency.

Instruction is in a dual control car with a qualified experienced female instructor. Sharon teaches the basics in a safe environment building confidence over the lessons which is then developed with practice. Drivers will learn the correct way right from the start, in car position, moving off, stopping, steering, signals, cornering and many other essential driving skills.

We encourage students to use a coach in addition to our instruction lessons. The coach is a family member or friend who is an experienced driver and can help the student with the practice phases.

We ask all students to register with the Practice programme and with their identified coach use the interactive learning to help develop essential driving skills. The coach also provides in car driving where the student builds on our structured lessons so they can get the recommended 120 hours of driving practice before the restricted test. We have found that after initial lessons a student will practice and have less frequent lessons until competent, the more quality practice the less lessons required.

It is not only learner drivers that benefit, older drivers, migrants and a licensed driver that just wants to enhance their basic skills – some drivers are nervous about parking – Sharon can help.
